Mission 4 - Prologue

“So, you’re tellin’ me you wanna’ what?” PK leaned forward in her desk, her beady eyes hard on Rhodes.

“Eh. I wanna go back.” Rhodes gave a sly smile. “I need to see if there’s any of the little ones left. I want to bring ‘em back here.”

“Here?”

“Yeah.”

“To the village?”

“Yeah.”

“Where we took you in and gave you a home? And fed you and kept you warm in the snow?” PK looked exasperated.

“Technically,” said Rhodes with a wave, “the snow wasn’t here before—”

“That’s beside the point!” With a rub of her temples, PK let out a sigh. “Okay. Fine. It’s not like I want all those little sneasels ta’ starve or anything.”

Right about then, two new guys—the team called the Ninja Monkeys—ambled into the office, tracking snow behind them.

“Are you serious, you two?!” shouted PK. “You’ve drug in snow all over the carpet!”

The mankey, Juto, leaned over to his pansear partner. “I told you we should have allied ourselves with the pirate.”

“A pirate?” whispered Jitsu. “There was no way I was going to work for a pirate.” He adjusted his grey scarf across his shoulder and looked down at his feet. “My deepest apologies, PK.”

PK waved her hand and leaned forward again, almost falling over her desk. “Whatever. So, I’ve got a job for you two.”

Juto and Jitsu looked at each other with a firm nod. “Of course,” said Jitsu. Perhaps this kecleon wasn’t so bad after all. She certainly seemed to have a fair head for business--she'd proven that much since they'd came anyway.

“What’s our mission, master?” asked Juto with a bow.

PK chuckled. “I still love it when you call me that.” She cleared her throat. “But pay attention. Have you two been in town long enough to know who Slasher is?”

The sneasel in front of Jitsu peered over his shoulder. “Was,” he said. “Who Slasher was.”
