TMNT Sketches 2010

Description

Been on a TMNT kick for the last day or so. Here's some sketches I did in my otherwise occupied time, all slammed together.

I colored a few. I just couldn't resist. Would like to do more, but tomorrow's Phoenix Comicon and I have to ensure I have everything together.

My Comments:

- I went for somewhere in between Mirage and Archie for these. I love the seriousness of the Mirage ones, but am also a fan of a lot of the archie characters. Over to the right you can see some odd turtles practice of different shapes and body sizes.

Fugitoid - His Mirage design is good, but plain, so I used some toy influence in the color scheme, and a couple dohickeys added to his chest n' stuff. I like it.

Ray Fillet / Man Ray - Whichever name you like best, he rocks. I prefer Ray Fillet... it's just better imo.

Casey Jones - Still one of my fave's. No man would wear the toy colors, but the design is good.

Foot Soldier - This is an odd cartoony style for me, but the design comes from the 2003 TMNT Foot Soldiers.

Groundchuck - Wanted to see if I could make him a believable bad guy. The slam head sketch next to the more finished one shows that.

Splinter - Love the Mirage Splinter w/ the black stripe on his forehead. It IS difficult to make it look friendly though -- not a lot of range of emotion. Not easily anyway. We take pupils for granted.

Mondo Gecko - Cool character. Wanted to color him but just ran out of time.

Enjoy everyone... and see you at the Con for $5 sketches!

Some really great stuff here! Love your style on the more obscure characters like Fugitoid and Ray Fillet, using their action figure designs.
